Black and White Wedding Cake

Brides never dressed in black in the old days on their wedding day and black was never worn to a wedding by anyone. The use of black was a major faux pas until around a year ago. Brides started using black for an elegant modern wedding. Even bridesmaids and mothers-of-the bride have started wearing black and no one seems to mind. The wedding police have decided that black is in.

When a bride decides on a black and white wedding, she should carry the color scheme throughout the wedding. Although other color touches may be added such as vibrant reds, most of the wedding decor should be black and white. Table linens should be a combination of the two colors. A white tablecloth with black and white table linens make a stunning statement.

Obviously the flowers should be white. Black flowers simply do not say wedding. They are not the flowers of love. Using stark white flowers of all types, styles, and sizes will look stunning in the wedding. The white flowers with the bridesmaids' black dresses look so elegant and modern. Hopefully, the bride won't wear black, nut that a whole different story and don't get me started. The bride's flowers would also be stark white also. One of the most beautiful bouquets for a bride is a nosegay of white roses. The roses are formed very tightly into a beautiful circle. This bouquet is simple and elegant.

Since the wedding cake is the centerpiece of the reception, a black and white wedding cake is a must for this type of modern wedding. Because a black and white wedding cake is very modern, the cake should be covered with white fondant. The frosting when done correctly is very smooth with clean lines. Simple black decorations on the cake add beauty and class to the cake. You don't want too much black on the cake. The black decorations are simply plain fondant colored black.

Because the decorations should be simple, you might use black ribbons around each layer of the cake. The a few black bows can add beauty to the cake. Too many black decorations will overwhelm a beautiful white cake.

A great table decoration for the cake table is white rose petals. Spread white rose petals around the cake in a haphazard manner as if they blew onto the table. If the petals are look too placed, the table will look too forced. Rose petals are so beautiful on a cake table.

A black and white wedding is a modern statement that many brides have decided fits their twenty-first century ideas. No longer forbidden a black and white cake is the perfect complement to this elegant modern wedding.
